Climbing Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak, is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for hikers and nature enthusiasts. This Zugspitze hike tour takes you on a two-day journey through the breathtaking Reintal Valley, where you’ll explore scenic gorges, lush forests, and dramatic alpine landscapes. Designed for hikers of moderate experience, this tour combines physical challenge with unforgettable vistas, ensuring a rewarding and memorable experience as you reach the summit of Zugspitze. On the first day of your Zugspitze hike tour, you’ll start at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and traverse the picturesque Partnachklamm Gorge. The trail winds through the serene Reintal Valley, offering gentle ascents alongside the Partnach River. After a well-deserved rest at the Bockhütte, you’ll continue to Reintalanger Hut, your accommodation for the night. Here, you’ll enjoy a hearty Bavarian dinner, rest in dorm-style rooms, and prepare for the more challenging climb to the summit on day two. Day two of the Climb Zugspitze adventure begins with an early ascent toward Knorrhütte, where the terrain becomes steeper and more demanding. The hike progresses through the rugged Zugspitzplatt, with sections requiring basic scrambling skills and the assistance of fixed cables. Reaching the summit is the ultimate reward, with panoramic views stretching across Germany and Austria. After celebrating your achievement, you can opt for a scenic cable car descent, completing your incredible Zugspitze hike tour.

Important Information to Climb Zugspitze :

  • Best Season: Late June to early October. Snow can be present on the trail in early and late season, so check conditions.
  • Gear: Good hiking boots, trekking poles, weatherproof clothing, a headlamp, snacks, and plenty of water. Crampons may be needed in early or late season if there’s snow.
  • Weather: Conditions can change quickly in the Alps. Check the weather forecast in advance and be prepared for rapid changes.
  • Difficulty: Moderate to challenging due to distance and elevation gain. The Reintal Route is non-technical but requires good physical fitness.
  • Accommodation: We will reserve your spot at Reintalanger Hut.
 

Alternate Route for Experienced Climbers

If you’re looking for a more challenging option, we can consider the Höllental Route. This route includes a glacier crossing and exposed sections with fixed cables. It’s shorter but more technical, recommended only for experienced climbers with alpine equipment.
