DELPHI ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE GREAT SATURDAY
At the foot of Mount Parnassos, within the angle formed by the twin rocks of the Phaedriades, lies the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which had the most famous oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi was regarded as the center of the world. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious center and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world. The history of Delphi begins in prehistory and in the myths of the ancient Greeks. On this major day, the faithful gather outside churches holding a candle (children are given an elaborately decorated ‘lambada’ candle, customarily by their godparent) to be lit by holy light from the church at midnight, when the Resurrection of Christ is proclaimed.

The Corinth Canal cuts through the narrow isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) in length and only 24.6 meters (80.7 feet) wide at sea level, making it impassable for many modern ships. The ancient theatre of Epidaurus, that amazes visitors with its symmetry and beauty, was designed by Polykleitos the younger in the 4th century BC. With a capacity to host 15,000 spectators, this theatre is famous for its exceptional acoustics that permits even the spectators of the last row to listen to what actors are saying on the scene. One of the most beautiful towns in the area of Argolis (in eastern Peloponnese) as well as one of the most romantic cities all over Greece, Nafplio was the first capital of the newly born Greek state between 1823 and 1834. According to mythology, the town was founded by Nafplios, the son of god Poseidon and the daughter of Danaus (Danaida) Anymone.

FERRY TO SANTORINI, ISLAND TOUR
The tour in the archaeological site of Akrotiri is for every visitor a trip back in time. Buildings and objects trapped under a thick layer of volcanic material remained intact or left their imprint. The town’s life came to an abrupt end in the last quarter of the 17th century BC when the inhabitants were obliged to abandon it as a result of severe earthquakes. The eruption followed. The volcanic materials covered the entire island and the town itself. These materials, however, have protected up-to-date the buildings and their contents, just like in Pompeii.
