Itinerary

Day 1, Arrival at Tirana Airport

After arrival and accommodation in the hotel, the first day is reserved for a guided foot tour in Tirana. We will visit the Blloku district; Enver Hoxha’s Villa was located in this neighborhood and during his dictatorship, making this area an exclusive enclave of government officials and the Communist Party elite. Today Blloku, or the Block, is one of Tirana’s most vibrant districts – home to some of the city’s most popular cafes, restaurants and boutiques. It’s the perfect place to gain an understanding of Albania’s Communist-era history and its effect on the country’s modern life and attitudes. The tour includes sightseeing of Skanderbeg Square, some of Tirana’s notable landmarks including the 18th-century Et’hem Bey Mosque (from outside) and the statue of Albania’s national hero for whom the Square is named. Visit to the Bunker Art Museum will reveal the communist victims past to us showing distressed family stories in a very real way.

Day 2, Tirana – Kruje – Tirana

Today after breakfast we will visit the historic Dervish Monastery town of Kruje, where the guide will share insight into the beliefs and traditions of ancient Sufism. The next destination is the Ethnographic Museum of Kruje. The Ethnographic Museum is a museum of Albanian social life, customs and traditions. The museum is located in an authentic 19th-century house owned by the affluent Toptani dynasty within the Kruje castle complex. It includes a total of 15 rooms which tell of work and family life in the town of Kruja. Local workshop of Keche making can be visited as well (if it is open at the time). Free time for Lunch in restaurant in Kruje.

Day 3: Tirana - Durres – Berat

Today after breakfast, we leave Tirana and we go to Berat. The first half of this day is reserved for exploring the glorious past of the white city or the city of 1000 windows as the Berat is called. We will relive the unique way of life behind the Castle walls of old Berat , but also witness how amazingly nowadays people still maintain their habits in this high settled city, gated by the great walls. It is an open museum (Mangalemi) offering life and monuments, crafts and stunning views over the Osumi river valley. We will walk over the stone paved street towards Onufri Church and Museum to have a unique story telling experience from the hosts. The second half of the day is reserved for a visit to Alpeta Agrotourism & Winery - Rošnik, or Čobo Winery near Berat.

Day 4, Berat – Ohrid, Macedonia

The next destination is Ohrid, Macedonia. Тhis day is for explore the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” as is called, Ohrid. The most rewarding city tour includes a glimpse at this open museum of history and culture, the most delightful sense of orthodox Christianity holiness present with more than 365 churches, fortresses, as well as ancient sites, museums, and UNESCO-protected monuments of nature. We will start with seeing (from outside) Tzar Samoil Fortress, overlooking the city and the Lake, feeling like the conquerors from the glorious past of the Macedonians. Visit the charming monastery at Kaneo enjoying the breathtaking scenery (sightseeing only), the birthplace of the Slavic literacy at St. Clements University built in X century at Plaosnik (with entry). The city tour ends with a presentation of the making of the unique Ohrid pearl, which is well kept secrets for over 150 years… One of the two families that still is producing the pearls will tell us the story in their shop in the old city of Ohrid.

Day 5, Ohrid: Ohrid / visit St. Naum Monastery

You start the day from the city harbor of Ohrid where you board the boat on your way to the rocky cliff where you will find the St. Naum monastery complex . It is a unique monastery complex with a church, which is named after the saint of the same name. Macedonians believe that you can still hear his heartbeat if you put your ear to the stone coffin in the church. On the way you sail past the Bay of Bones , a unique reconstructed settlement on the water. When you arrive at the St. Naum monastery complex you will soon spot the colourful peacocks that forage outside the church. After the visit you will enjoy lunch, the so-called 'lake menu' including the Ohrid trout . Lunch is again included in the tour price, drinks are at your own expense. When you return to Ohrid you will have the afternoon to do as you please.

Day 6, Ohrid – Skopje

Today we leave Ohrid. Our next destination is Skopje. Guided city tour will follow. The group will visit the Mother Theresa from Calcutta and Nobel awardee Memorial House (house of birth), the Stone Bridge, Medieval Fortress Kale and the Holy Salvation Temple. The most recent buildings of the Skopje 2014 project, all resembling the great baroque style settled along the main capital Square Macedonia and justifying the title of our day as “Macedonian Mix” will also be a part of our walking Skopje tour with an excellent chance for an unforgettable photos. The tour will also include the Old city Bazaar for close exploration of the everyday life of different ethnics thru the narrow streets of Carshija. Overnight in Skopje.

Day 7, Skopje – Nis, Serbia

Your adventure continues in Nis, Serbia, town of extraordinary history and a birth place of Roman emperor, Constantine The Great- gratitude for Christianization of the Roman Empire.Our local guide will take you to conquer the walls of Fortress, built in the early XVIII century which today represents one of the most well-preserved fortresses on Balkan peninsula. Also you will enter the Skull Tower, witnessing the past of these turbulent territories on the Balkans. Dinner in traditional ethno restaurant in Nis.

Day 8, Nis – Belgrade

After breakfast we go to Belgrade for a guided city tour. Feel the energy of vibrant Serbia`s capital that never sleeps through walking day tour: We will visit picturesque Kalemegdan fortress and discover its fascinating history where once was the city of Belgrade. Today it is a huge park with stunning views over confluence of Sava and Danube. We will continue towards the city centre sightseeing landmarks of this capital along the way. Famous Republic is one of the stops for brief history and photo opportunity. The most prominent pedestrian street of Knjaz Milos will present us with the recognizable Belgrade between wars architecture as well the buzz of the modern life nowadays. Our guide will share interesting stories about the events taking place here. The rest of the afternoon is free for individual sightseeing in the city center.

Day 9, Belgrade - Novi Sad -Sremski Karlovci -Belgrade Today, after breakfast we will visit city Novi Sad. We will discover the many attractions and cultural highlights of Novi Sad on a day tour. This immersive excursion is ideal for travelers who want to go beyond the typical tourist guidebook and dive deep into local life. Itinerary highlights include the Najlon Pijaca flea market, Petrovaradin Fortress, Krusedol Monastery….. Along the way, your guide will provide insights into hundreds of years of the area's social and demographic changes. Our next destination is Sremski Karlovci. We will visit the Museum of Beekeeping – Wine House Živanović. Lunch at Restaurant Bermet Villa.

Day 10, Belgrade – Tuzla - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Today after breakfast we will go to Sarajevo. On the way to Sarajevo, we will have a first stop in Tuzla. Tuzla, town in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, situated in the Tuzla Basin.Tuzla has long been associated with local deposits of rock salt. In the 10th century it was called Soli (Salts), and its present name is from the Turkish tuz, “salt.” This is a place that deserves the attention of all of your senses, a year- round destination with more to offer than initially meets the eye. Museums, mosques, history and some of the best ćevapi in B&H. Tuzla has a number of great restaurants for lunch. Overnight in Sarajevo. Day 11, Sarajevo, city tour Today is reserved for Sarajevo city tour, capital and cultural center of Bosnia and Herzegovina.The city lies in the narrow valley of the Miljacka River at the foot of Mount Trebević. The city retains a strong Muslim character, having many mosques, wooden houses with ornate interiors,and the ancient Turkish marketplace (the Baščaršija). You will also see the Latin Bridge, bridge is where the assassination in Sarajevo took place. This Ottoman bridge over the river Miljacka is definitely one of the main Sarajevo attractions. We will visit Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque and Tunnel Museum (with entry).

Day 12, Sarajevo – Mostar – Trebinje Today we will visit another popular city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name of the city is Mostar. Mostar has long been known for its old Turkish houses and Old Bridge, Stari Most, after which it is named. In the 1990s conflict, however, most of the historic town and the Old Bridge, designed by the renowned architect Sinan, was destroyed. The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO. Apart from the recognizable bridge, the old Bazar is also interesting to see in Mostar. Bazar Kujundžiluk is an Ottoman-era market on either side of Stari Most that today consists of tourist-oriented shops & restaurants. Our final destination today is Trebinje. Trebinje is a city located in Republika Srpska (Serb Republic), a small region of Bosnia and Herzegovina and predominantly Serbian. It has a lovely little old town….. Overnight in a hotel in Trebinje.

Day 13, Trebinje – Dubrovnik – Herceg Nov Start your day in Trebinje, exploring the Arslanagić Bridge and Hercegovačka Gračanica Monastery before heading to Dubrovnik. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, a seaport and the center of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. As the capital of the Republic of Ragusa, a maritime republic, the city achieved a high level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Dubrovnik became notable for its wealth and skilled diplomacy. Dubrovnik is best known by its distinctive Old Town all surrounded by the Walls of Dubrovnik. The walls are 1940 meters long with 6 fortresses. The Old Town, with the main street Stradun (or Placa), is the most interesting part of Dubrovnik that you have to see. It is magnificent with all these styles of architecture like Renaissance Gothic (Rector's Palace which is a history museum now) and Baroque. You can visit Fort Lovrijenac or St. Lawrence Fortress, often called "Dubrovnik's Gibraltar", is a fortress and theater outside the western wall of the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, 37 meters above sea level. Famous for its plays and importance in resisting Venetian rule, it overshadows the two entrances to the city, from the sea and by land. After spending the whole day in the city, in the evening, drive to Herceg Novi. Overnight in Herceg Novi.

Day 14, Herceg Novi – Kotor – Budva

Start your day in Herceg Novi, exploring the Old Town, Kanli Kula Fortress, and the Pet Danica Promenade.Drive along the scenic Bay of Kotor to Kotor, where you’ll wander through the medieval Old Town, visit St. Tryphon’s Cathedral, and, if you’re up for it, hike to San Giovanni Fortress for breathtaking views. In the afternoon, head to Budva, relax on the beaches, stroll through the charming Old Town……

Day 15, Budva This day is for exploring Budva. Once a small and quiet coastal town, today, Budva is a metropolis of Montenegrin tourism and one of the loudest and most packed towns on the Montenegrin coast during the summer. Its life began on the headland two and a half millennia ago and has poured out of the ramparts towards luxurious yachts, new buildings, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs whereamazing fun awaits. The Old Town of Budva is encircled by a fortress wall. Its first defensive walls were built during the ninth century. After these walls were destroyed by an earthquake during the seventeenth century they were replaced by the Venetians. Once inside the walls visitors will find themselves in a living museum where the inhabitants still occupy medieval stone buildings. Budva has been recognised as a monument of architectural antiquity by UNESCO. Its narrow cobbled streets are dotted with souvenir shops, cafés and bars as well as many attractions including museums and churches.
