The Rayen Citadel is the second largest brick building in the world and is located in the southwest of the city of Rayen on the Kerman-Bam road. This citadel, with an area of more than 22,000 square meters, is a relic of the Sassanid era, and its entire buildings are made of clay. The citadel was residential until around 150 years ago and around 5,000 people lived in it. It is like a sheet of a historical document that is deeply eye-catching with its indented high walls and beautiful guarded towers. When you enter the citadel, one of the interesting parts that you do not have the chance to see is the security guard post that is located near the entrance and has a view down through a square hole. In the past, the guards controlled and protected the entrance from this point.
