Salzburg

Salzburg is an Austrian city located on the border with Germany at the foot of the Eastern Alps. The Salzach River flows through the middle of the city. With a total catchment area of around 6734 km² and a length of about 225 km to its confluence with the Inn, the Salzach is Salzburg’s largest river and has been closely linked to the history of the state and the city of Salzburg since time.

The Salzburg Slate Alps, also known as the Salzburg Grass Mountains, are a mountain range in the Eastern Alps. They are located in Austria in the province of Salzburg, to a small extent in the province of Styria. As part of the Slate Alps, they are part of the greywacke zone, and are counted either as part of the Northern Alps or the Central Alps.

On the left bank is the old town, which is designated as a pedestrian zone, with buildings from the Middle Ages and Baroque.

On the opposite side of the river is the 19th-century New Town. Mozart’s birthplace in the Old Town is now home to a museum that displays original instruments from the famous composer’s childhood. The most famous Salzburg resident is the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born here in 1756, which is why the city is nicknamed “Mozart City” and the airport is called “Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart”

Mozart’s birthplace (German: Mozarts Geburtshaus or Hagenauerhaus) was the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at No**.** 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg**,** Austria. The Mozart family resided on the third floor from 1747 to 1773.

Salzburg was the capital of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, an ecclesiastic principality in the Holy Roman Empire (today in Austria). Mozart was the youngest of seven children, five of whom died in infancy.
